Bea and her younger sister Sinead were taken care of by their maternal grandmother Helen (nee Moloney) who was a secondary school teacher jockey trainer and an ex-professional jockey. They were obsessed with races as well as horses. Bea began her career as tourist guides at the Irish National Stud. But she soon realized that her passion was for acting, not racing.
